Book Review: With Love, From Me to You

Hey all!

I’ve loved reading for as long as I can remember. There is nothing better then getting lost in a good book. If you’re interested in seeing what I’m currently reading, check the blog for a future post.

However, today’s post is all about the book With Love, From Me to You.

This book is a creation between Mary Manz Simon, an award-winning author whose titles have been sold more than three million copies and are available in ten languages, and Corinna Ice, a renowned children’s book illustrator whose purpose is to make illustrations full of that by using her “heart and brush to paint the world.”

This little story follows a polar bear mail carrier who is using a train to travel around. He begins by showing that we can simply share a heart with someone to show that we care. As the story continues the bear shows other animals how the simplest of gestures can brighten someones day, whether they be shy, sad, or angry. The story continues by showing how we all feel God’s love inside of us and that we should share this love with others by showing them love and kindness.

“For love is more then flowers,
although they smell so sweet.
And love is more than candy,
although that is a treat.” – With Love, From Me to You

The first thing I noticed about this book was the images. Using soft colors, Ice created the picture of happiness, kindness, and love. She used symbols such as hearts to represent love, the birds seem to represent peace, and the happy faces on all the animals in a scene surrounded by blue skies and flowers definitely leave the feeling of calm and happiness. This can be seen all throughout the book as additional hearts are found decorating the train and happy faces placed on all the animals.

The little story itself as elements such as rhyming that are great to help little kids remember and learn.  This book aims to show kids how their actions and words affect things in their everyday life, along with how important their actions and words are in expression God’s love with each other.  It aids in teaching children that the simplest of gestures may bring joy and happiness to someone, such as the simple act of greeting someone by saying hi.

This is definitely a book I would recommend. It is best suited for younger kids around the ages of 1-5 years old as it is a board book. It is a great book to share with kids this age as this is when they are the most impressionable and teaching them the actions in this story will help shape their character in a positive way.

Disclaimer: I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book through BookLook Bloggers. However, it should be noted that I was not required to give a positive review and all thoughts and opinions stated are my own.

Sample Saturdays

Hey all!

I am sure any of you out there that are addicted to beauty products also has a collection of samples of said beauty products. That is is predicament that I have found myself in. I absolutely love trying new products so I will never turn down a sample. However, they often get poked away and forgotten about. Eventually the few samples that you knew you had will have grown to a ridiculous amount.

Over the past month I have been trying to use up some of these samples during my travels. I haven’t had much luck with it to be honest. So, I decided to try to use them up at home. From this the idea of ‘Sample Saturday’s’ was born. I often seen Beauty Gurus make blog posts or Youtube videos about their makeup baskets for that week. It was a trend a while back. However, instead of weekly makeup baskets I am going to have weekly sample baskets. I’m not going to be unrealistic with this endeavor. Instead, I am going to choose a few I know it is possible to use up and share my progress with you (and add more samples) every Saturday! Hence, Sample Saturdays!

Site Updates

Hello Everyone,

It’s been a hot minute since the last time I wrote.

I’ve had a pretty busy Summer and let this blog fall to the side. I’ve opened up WordPress many times over the past little while with the intentions of writing. I’ve got back posts/pictures already saved on my computer for future posts… but nothing came of it.

I’m hoping to get back into the swing of things over the next little while. As you can probably tell (unless you’re new to the blog…..then Welcome!) that I’ve did some formatting changes. I’m liking how it is turning out so far and I’ll probably stick with what I have for the time being. I’m also trying to get the site more organized and bring some new content in. It should be a great time!

I look forward to being back over the next few weeks with some new adventures for you all! In the meantime, stay cool!

Do People Actually Read This? #curiosity

Sometimes I just want to sit down and have a chat with you all… anyone who actually reads this.

It’s funny you know, thinking that I am writing for anyone to read; from any place around the world. But do people actually read? I have received some likes on my posts… this keeps me going. I had a few people who would comment before I went on a mini hiatus.

But in the end, what I need to remember is I am doing this for me. I enjoy having a creative outlet. I enjoy writing about my day, books I’ve read, products I’ve tried, and so on. I find there is nothing more satisfying then posting ‘publish’ to a blog post you’ve worked on for a few days in order to make sure you’ve got everything done the way you’ve envisioned it.

Will I quit? No….

Will I continue to write?  You betcha!
