Can you believe that January is almost over? We’re almost one month into 2015. When I was little this seemed like a time that I would never seen. Isn’t it funny how time goes by in almost a blink of the eye? We need to make sure to enjoy each and every day to its fullest.
And one of these things would be to enjoy the little treasures that life throws our way. I’d like to introduce you to some of mine in this January Favorites post. Now keep in mind that these are a bunch of random picks from TV shows to beauty products. Interested in seeing what I’ve been loving this month? Well let’s continue…..
I have been using up a bunch of samples this month (#SampledOut) in order to decrease my stash and because some have been floating around for a while and we want to make sure those are used up before they expire. Therefore, I don’t have many beauty products in this months favorites. Nonetheless, here are some of the ones I’ve been loving.
Bath and Body Works Winter Candy Apple Fragrance Mist
As a part of using up some products I’ve had for a while, the Winter Candy Apple Fragrance mist was included in those I wanted to finish up because there is only a little left in my mini size (I have a full-sized backup). What I love about this product is it leaves you smelling great for most of the day, without an insanely strong, overpowering scent. Definitely great for those days when you want to be just a little sweeter.
Herbal Essences Moroccan My Shine
First of all, sorry for the horrible quality of the photo. I’m used a picture that was previously taken for this post and I couldn’t quite get the lighting right in the wonderful weather we had at the time. However, this is one of my favorite products. I don’t use it every time I wash my hair but I continue to go back to it. I find that this product works great for my hair, leaving it soft and manageable. My hair isn’t as frizzy when I use it either. It is definitely a product I’ll repurchase.
Over Christmas vacation the boyfriend and I started watching a few shows on Netflix that quickly became favorites. The first being Wentworth.
Bea Smith is locked up while awaiting trial for the attempted murder of her husband and must learn how life works in prison. – IMDB
If you enjoyed Orange Is the New Black (a Netflix original) you should definitely give this a try. It is rather disturbing at times but there’s always enough suspense to keep you coming back for more. I’ll admit we almost had all the episodes that Netflix had to offer finished in a few days. We had no idea what the show was about when we started it (it was a random choice) but it was definitely worth it.
Just in case you are interested, check out the trailer below:
I’ve also been really enjoying Shameless (the UK version).
I’ve managed to finish all the episodes of Netflix. Unfortunately they do not have the full series there so I didn’t get to finish it. This is a show essentially based around the lives of a drunken man and his kids (who more or less fend for themselves). They definitely leave nothing to the imagination and after seeing a few episode, you’ll definitely agree that it is shameless. I don’t want to give too much away, so we’ll stick with the summary from IMDB.
The story of a young group of siblings pretty much abandoned by their parents, surviving by their wits – and humor – on a rough Manchester council estate. Whilst they won’t admit it, they need help and find it in Steve, a young middle class lad who falls for Fiona, the oldest sibling, and increasingly finds himself drawn to this unconventional and unique family. Anarchic family life seen through the eyes of an exceptionally bright fifteen year old, who struggles to come of age in the context of his belligerent father, closeted brother, psychotic sister and internet porn star neighbors.

I’ve also included the trailer for this one as well:
Apparently there is also an American version of this show. It should be interesting to check out as well.
Food and Drink:
This month I’ve discovered my love for flavored coffee with hot chocolate added. I’m not a fan of coffee alone but add the hot chocolate and it is fantastic. We recently got a Keurig and have been taking advantage of it. We’ve tried a few different flavors but this months winner is the Raspberry Truffle Coffee from the Cake Boss.
The flavor reminds me of cookies my mom use to buy when I was little. It was a gram cookie with raspberry jam on it. Then topped with marshmallow and all covered in chocolate. Yum! I plan on purchasing more of these when we get through some of the k-cups we’ve accumulated (we have a crazy amount).
I’ve been enjoying some of the newer, mainstream music this month. This is surprising considering lately most of our music has been from the local scene or varieties that rarely hit mainstream. Out of these, I’ve included the top two songs that always make me happy to hear them.
Uptown Funk – Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars
Geronimo – Sheppard
Well that’s it for this months favorites. I know there are not many but it’s been a pretty chill and laid back month here. Nonetheless, hopefully you’ve enjoyed a sneak peek into my favorites. Do you have any favorites this month? I’d love to hear about them. If you have a post about them (or video), please share the link in the comments and I’ll definitely check it out.
